The number of people playing poker is rising day by day. Attributed reason is opportunity and fun. There are no hard secrets in learning poker. All one has to do is to learn the rules of the game. All though the rules of individual games may vary there are some basic strategies one must have while playing. First for any poker game the ideal state is to understand the deck of cards. It has four suits namely spades, clubs, hearts and diamonds. Each individual suit has a single king, queen, ace, jack and numbers from 2 to 10.

 Generally in a poker game money is needed to be paid in advance. There will be a single player who acts as dealer. Two players on both sides of the dealer are the actual players who are called as left and a right hand.
 The next state is to understand how to combine the cards and make the best hand out of the possible. Though each game has different winning hands, when we start playing poker there are two to three winning hands which are most common. They are straight, full house, and four – three of a kind, Royal flush and straight flush.
 Royal Flush – As the name indicates it is the best hand to have. It is almost impossible to beat this hand and is considered top hand. A royal flush is one where a player has king, queen, jack and 10 of a same suit in a single hand.
 Straight Flush – This is next best to a Royal flush. This flush can be beaten by any other higher flush or by a Royal Flush. But still it is considered to be a solid flush to have. Also it is hard to obtain and in any situation one can shoot it as it is fairly a good strategy.
 Four and three of a kind – Although these are only next to above two flushes it is a reasonable hand to have if you cant make any other flushes.  Such kind of hand is said to be achieved when a player has 3 or 4 cards of same denomination.
 Flush – A flush is one when a player attains five cards of the same suit.
 Straight – This hand is bit hard to complete. To get this hand a player should have a sequence of five cards of any suit. An example would be to have a five of clubs, six of hearts, seven of spades, eight of diamonds and nine of clubs. It is better to have higher numbers in straight sequence.
 Full house – As you start playing poker you will identify it is one of the solid hands to have.  It is not uncommon to have two cards of one denomination and three of another denomination.
